Family Workshop - Sculpt a Playspace out of  Earth

Help sculpt an indoor play area out of natural materials and earth

. . . a little cave area under the stairway, a strawbale seating bench, and other playful creations!

Learn to identify soil, make an earthen sculpting mix ("cob", a clay/sand subsoil mix with straw added),

apply the mix to a variety of surfaces and applications!

Get ideas and experience to create an enchanting playspace in your home, and learn how these materials apply to

future building and green rennovation you could do.

Through this process participants will learn how to use natural materials that can be used to build or remodel their home. Utilizing time honored Natural Building techniques, earthen plaster and cob, you will help sculpt an indoor play area out of these natural materials instead of conventional paint and drywall.   Earthen plaster is a traditional material

used around the world for thousands of years and is completely non-toxic, durable and beautiful.  Cob is a material best known for its use extensive use in many century old homes in the United Kingdom .
